Welcome Briana
By: Tom Lally
I’m happy to share that our beautiful baby girl Briana was born on May 11th. She tipped the scales at 8 pounds 1 ounce and 20.5 inches long. Everyone is a bit sleep deprived but otherwise healthy and doing very well.
We delivered at Beth Israel in Boston. While I wish the bed for me was a little more comfortable (or even just more like a bed and less like a chair), the care we received there was absolutely amazing. It’s of course a stressful time but everyone was calm and positive, constantly explaining what was going on and what they were going to do next. They really did a wonderful job making things as smooth and according to plan as possible.
The first few weeks of parenthood have been an amazing time. There’s certainly been some challenges: lots of tears (mostly from Briana, perhaps a few from us parents), some poorly timed accidents, and lots of laundry. But there’s been so much joy too, and it’s often the little things: the way her big blue eyes look so alert when we go outside, the way she’ll hiccup through crying sometimes, and of course the pure joy of a milk drunk face.
It’s been amazing to see Briana observe her little world and grow. She’s already too big for some of her newborn outfits. They say it goes by so fast, but for right now we are just taking things one day at a time, and looking forward to some days with a little more sleeping and a little less crying.
