Celebrating a Birthday and a Baby

I’m excited to share that Saoirse is going to be a big sister!

And in true ‘me’ fashion, what do I want to do when I’m 6 months pregnant, and my toddler is about to turn 3 years old? Plan a weeklong “birthday and baby 2-for-1 celebration” trip!

The greatest life hack out there (and I’m only slightly exaggerating) is that Disney is FREE if your child is under 3 years old. I couldn’t let this deal pass me by! But I didn’t want to spend an entire week in Disney with a toddler, so we spent 2 days at Disney World and then took a short flight from there to The Bahamas.

While at Disney, we went to EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. Saoirse was star struck by the princesses and Stitch. Overall we had a truly magical trip, and I am grateful I ignored the masses that told me she wouldn’t remember it so why go at all? She was meeting her heroes, and you could tell from her face the entire trip! We continue to keep the magic alive by reading the books that we got signed by characters in Disney.

For the adult part of the itinerary, we headed down to The Bahamas, as I really wanted to swim with dolphins while I was pregnant. Why, you ask? Through the way dolphins communicate, they know when someone is pregnant because they can hear the baby’s heartbeat. I’m happy to report that it lived up to my hopes. We were paired to swim with a mother dolphin, and her 2-year-old calf kept swimming over to the group and right to me! While Saoirse didn't love the splashing, she did love getting to pat the dolphin as it swam by.

We stayed at The Atlantis, and while this resort is known for its water park, we spent most of our time poolside, recovering from the chaos of Disney and early flights. I relished the time relaxing before life gets super busy again in June, and travel becomes a bit more chaotic with another child in tow!
